National Environmental Performance Track

The Environmental View Online Monitoring System application was developed for use by large waste-to-energy facilities to display their Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEMS) or other emissions data online, either internally, externally or both. The impetus for the project was to aid in the emissions monitoring compliance process. By providing the data online it is made accessible to a variety of groups internal to the plant or externally, such as the EPA. This is accomplished via a secure, password protected area.

The application can be modified and used to display any type of emission or element as long as it is currently being monitored and recorded. We have a working model with one month's worth of data for your review.

The application performs several tasks: It accepts incoming data, which includes notes that coincide to "events". The data is then read and validity checks are completed. Once it is determined that the data is valid, it is added to the appropriate database. The visitor to the web site may view the current data by element and by unit. Archives are also available to allow visitors to view data by choosing a day or month. The data is shown along with any notes of any plant or unit "events", such as routine calibration. Data is formatted in bar or line charts to allow quick and easy viewing. It is possible to display the data in numeric format and perform calculations to aggregate the data and/or other types of analyses. The EPA limits are included to provide reference points for each element. The application can also be configured to distribute email alerts to key personnel should threshold levels reach preset limits.

Any type of emission and/or element can be monitored by this system. If required, definitions of the element, how it is produced, comparison between sources and references to the regulations and limits can be part of the system. Elements and their configuration may be customized to meet the requirements of a facility / power plant.

Features
  • Web-based application allowing access and monitoring from any location
  • Real-time or time-delayed display of data
  • Tracking of an unlimited number of elements
  • Display of emissions or elements data for configurable timeframes
  • Password Security available
  • Easy-to-understand graphical format or numeric format
  • EPA limits readily viewable on each graph
  • Notes that correspond a specific time to an event, such as calibration
  • Can be integrated into existing web site or serve as a stand-alone application
  • Can be linked to an existing web site, yet still reside separately
  • Data is imported directly from the CEMS eliminating data entry expense
  • Coordination with CEMS vendor for data delivery
  • Data accepted from multiple plants/facilities with multiple units
  • Rapid retrieval of archival data
  • Data archived daily onto CD-ROM, if requested
