The Environmental View Online Distribution System application was
developed for use by large environmental laboratories to facilitate
the conveyance of lengthy analytical reports. The impetus for the
project was to solve the problem of transferring large analytical
reports instantly without expensive overnight shipping, courier
service or limited, unprotected email servers. By providing the
availability of the data to the client, at their convenience, the
environmental laboratory saves time and money in the process. This is
accomplished via a secure, password protected area to ensure the data
confidentiality.
There are no limits as to the format or size of the file(s). The ODS is fully
customizable to your needs and can be modified to transmit any type of data or files.

The ODS performs several tasks: The environmental laboratory
staff logs into their secure area. They choose a client firm and a
recipient (or recipients). The file is then uploaded via a user-friendly
interface. The application acts as a storage area for large reports,
which includes any format (Excel, Word, Adobe PDF, Text Files,
Comma-Separated Values (CSV), Access or any other type of format).
The Client is then automatically emailed that the analysis has been
completed and is available online. It also automatically
sends them the information needed to log on and obtain the files. If
the files are not downloaded within a specified time period, a reminder
is sent to the client and a notification is sent to the environmental
laboratory. At that point, action can be taken to investigate the problem.
At a specified length of time, the files are deleted to conserve server
space.
This application eliminates the need to install any software locally or
learn any complicated "FTP - file transfer protocol" commands. Secure
transmission of the files and secure online storage is provided. Clients
obtaining files will also be required to have a login name and password to
access any data.
